Here are some images which helped us:
Based on these we then sketched potential designs to use as a guide for creating our final company logo. Our first sketch is based strongly on the previous images seen during our search for phoenixes. The second we created because we decided the logo needed to be more unique and simple to be easy to make whilst still attracting the audience's attention successfully.
Next we had to find the correct images to use so we could create the final logo design based on our designs. Below are the best images we could find as well a screenshot of those we used being used in Photoshop to create the logo:
The final design is an adaption from the second logo design which we felt looked more effective at drawing the audiences attention because of the colours and positioning of text.

The text we used includes a font style which can be associated with an olden, medieval type setting, to portray the legendary time period the myth of the phoenix originates from. The black background was used to contrast with the text and feather image so it gave a glowing effect, like fire would which a phoenix is associated with. This is the reason for using a flaming feather as originally a phoenix is a bird which dies and rises from fire, therefore the feather from a bird on fire reflects this idea. As a pose to using a more orange colour for the feather we went for a golden yellow. This is because orange may give more connotations of danger making it more suitable for horror themed companies, which we weren't going for, whereas the golden yellow connotes richness and power, making our logo appear more important and appealing to a wider range of audiences than just horror.
